AWESOME!!!
I have to say this is turning out to be one of the better backgrounds I've seen. The fun thing is, even though you bought the backgrounds pre-made, there's still a lot of DIY involved which makes it a lot more fun for you and us (or at least us).
Can't wait to see it finished!
Thanks so much Conner! In DBN's defense I bought a BG for a 150 gallon tank, not a 120 gallon. I just wanted this design so badly, I didn't mind putting in a little work. The DIY is my choice to set my tanks apart from the rest and to give folks ideas on their tanks.
I am waiting on paint to dry right now. Plumbing and back of the 120g are both black, pics later, I fill tonight. I did an LFS run this morning & scored!!
I drove to 5 LFS's trying to find the perfect piece of wood (mangrove root/stump look) for the 10 gallon and I think I nailed it? I just need to cut it down tonight. I don't like mentioning prices but I had to shell $42 for this piece..
It's worth it though to find the right piece, the BG and wood make the tank IMO...
This is the only tank in my house with real wood. I am selling all of my collection for $$$ to DIY my own tree stump out of real wood.. Stay tuned, more on that later
I already had a school of x8 Hyphessobrycon Colombianus (Columbian Tetra) to go in the 120g with my Satanoperca Mapiritensis. I ordered a dozen more to beef up the school to x20. This is by far the BEST tetra I have ever kept. They shoal in a very tight group and leave the bottom untouched. They fill out the upper region of the tank nicely and get big, almost 3". Their colors offset the maps well too. Anyone know of a Corydora species that is collected in the lower Orinoco? Biotope link??
