OOOOOO!!!! I am excited, it's getting close now!
I know how you feel. I am giving it another 24 hours to fully cure though. I have plenty of work left with the other tanks so I'll keep on trucking. :D Since I sold 15 fish that were in the holding tank, I decided to move the orange head school from the 120 gallon to the holding tank. Mainly to keep up the bioload for the two FX5's.

I moved all the wood from the 120 gallon and 2 Hydor V sponges as well. There are a ton of plants I ripped out of the wood. I left a baby anubias from the bug mother on some wood I moved to the holding tank. I should really learn how to trim things properly lol..

All the wood is in the holding tank with the orange heads now.

The orange heads look pretty darn good for just getting netted out and moved. I love this species. This is the main species for the 300g.

I moved all but this male out of the 120 gallon. He is a butthole..... I did everything to try and catch him and he kept darting in the BG. I'll catch him tomorrow when he wakes up ;)

This entire overhaul is built around this. Right here!!!!!! :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2This is where it is at in the hobby for me.. The orange heads have been out of this tank maybe a half hour and now the Satanoperca mapiritensis group are establishing order amongst themselves and flaring at one another.. I am so lucky to be able to see this bahavior. I wish more people could experience it. Their tankmates are 20 Hyphessobrycon colombianus (Columbian Tetras).

This is the FTS for the 120 gallon right now. Not looking great but getting there. Wood is out and final stock list in place. I need to decorate it and plant it still. The top of this tank is looking good too so I couldn't resist a pic.

EPIC.
i like how you are choosing one "centerpiece" species as the focus of each tank, imo it looks a lot better than when people have a bunch of random species in a tank with no main focus

So how did you get the sand in all the cracks? By hand or using a brush to push them in?

I used a brush to "push" in the wet silicone and then added a layer of 0.5" - 1" of sand over the top and applied pressure to the sand pile, pushing grains at the bottom into the silicone. I hope that make sense?

Exactly, me too... That's also why I am leaving the 125 gallon as a experiemental tank for fun. I spent the last year with the intent to build the growouts a nice tank of their own and sell off my old stock. Here is the final stock of each tank:

10 gallon:
x2 Laetacara curviceps pair.

120 gallon:
x4 Satanoperca mapiritensis
x20 Hyphessobrycon colombianus (Columbian Tetras)

300 gallon:
x10 Geophagus sp. 'Tapajos' orange heads
x2 Satanoperca sp. 'redlip'
x2 Heros sp. 'Rotkeil' (need to find a female for my big male)

That 120 background is looking GOOD, Justin! The trunk part is really amazing. And I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again: I can't wait to see your 300g!!!!!!!! The combo of the dark decor and the orange heads is going to be beautiful... can't wait!!

Why thank you! I totally agree on the colors. You did a smash up good job on picking your BG against your fish colors too don't kid yourself. 7 more days till we see your tank:popcorn:

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry for the caps lock but dang I am proud of myself! Back a page or so I said I messed up on one of the sections of the 300 BG. Check it out, big crack... It seperated putting two of the panels together. It was really bothering me and less than 24 hours before I fill it, I think of a fix. Pond foam scraps...

P1010002.JPG

I dug out some of the slices from carving the pond foam and with some of the thinner pieces made safe and easy filler for the crack.

P1010029.JPG

I used a thin screw driver to push the thin slices of foam into the void about one inch at a time. It's not very easy to keep from cracking the BG pushing in foam with a screw driver so do it sober or it will look even worse than what you started with lolz..

P1010012.JPG

P1010019.JPG

It's not perfect but this is a macro shot with the flash on. Under water inside a tank it won't be visible at all. It turns out there is something you can do if you screw up. Some dude searching threads in the future is going to be stoked when they find this post. :naughty:

P1010016.JPG

Flash off in this shot. Grey on slightly different color grey doesn't pull the eyes attention like grey on uniform black line..

P1010021.JPG

The branch over the bottom section posted above was a much thinner crack so I had to cut even thinner slices of foam but I am really happy that is fixed now.

^ look at that, almost like it never happened. Good thing I'm not affraid to show you guys when I screw up lol..

That is going to be a bare 300. It needs an Arowana or a few Uaru or a few wild Discus or something :)

I can't wait to see it running with the OHs in it. My current group of 6 are being so fun and interesting lately that I feel like I'm just starting out again. I think I'll go take a few photos of them...

Don't think of it as bare, it's just understocked ;) the 10 in this group are constantly breeding and displaying for one another. Only another OH owner knows how much "sexy time" these guys actually get going when happy, right? Why not give them a huge tank to keep growing on.
