Thought I'd post a few vids of my Gulpers:

This is a great thread, there is very little info about this beasts on the internet. I have never found a single book that even mentions them. I'm glad they are gaining popularity, as although they are not for everyone, they are amazing fish. It's a pity you can't keep anything with them of size (they don't go for small fish in my experience), but it is great to be able to keep Monsters in a standard sized aquarium.

i saw these guys in a fish shop in toronto a few months ago and i have been intrigued ever since. i currently have an electric catfish and a spotted gar, both about 8-9" which will soon be housed in a planted 120 gallon tank. does anyone think i can make a couple gulpers mix with these guys? so far they have been totally peaceful tankmates with each other and a small shoal of silver dollars. im sure the silver dollars will need different accomodations than the gulpers though. also, if anyone has another line on gulpers in ontario let me know!

I am getting 5 gulpers tomorrow, maybe i will have some sucsess in breeding them????
I have a male and female so I remain hopeful.

Though I'm not sure anyone has actually done it yet?

Anyone know at what size they start to breed?

In my own opinion Biomass, anything of considerable size, a Gulper will try and eat. Fully grown Silver Dollars are not an option, I know from experience - though thankfully no deaths. People say the fish need to be 3 times the size of the Gulper for it to be safe. I have found smaller fish fine though (ie less than 3"), but that could just be my two. Gulpers have such different personalities, it is hard to say. 5 Gulpers is going to be awesome though, pics/vids when you can! They are still way to expensive and rare in UK to get that many.
