EXACT oscar temperature

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I kept my oscar tank at 78F. As puffer girl said, consistency is the most important.

I think that it is more the consistency of the temperature that's important. I have 3 oscars that I've had for quite awhile and I keep my tanks at 80. They are extremely active and have never been sick..... (knocking on wood......)

How big is your tank that has the three oscars in it?

Not big enough!!! Have them split between a 55 and a 47 gal. Know that I am more than likely going to have to get rid of one of them or get another tank!!!! I heard that they pair up after they are so old for breeding purposes (not sure if true) but NONE of mine get along. Had a 125 gal I was going to set up but don't think it would make much of a difference. I think they like to upset me by fighting with each other!!!!

they should pair up and lay eggs at about the 4-5inch size after that you have little hope of creating a pair witout adding other similar sized oscars. ive had 2 7inch oscars pair up late. there are many many people selling breeding pairs of oscars on the net but if you ask them how many times they have reared fry the answer is always the same they've not had any fry"

They are getting to be about that size. Is it possible though that they could not get along when young and then all of a sudden decide to pair up? Been seriously considering taking one back and not trying to pair up at all. With my tanks being small I always have one isolated because 3 in one tank would be to much. Should I try putting all three together for a little bit to see if one of the two pair up with the loner?

puffer girl if you still have that 125 gal .. set it up you will have room for all your oscar 's for some time if you apply good filtration to it as well . don't waste time set it up... :D good luck

What was I thinking?! Bad, bad puffer_girl........ Now I guess I have to go buy another! It is a never ending vicious cycle, this hobby of mine.........
