I'm in the same boat as you now that the cats and gar are settled into a permanent tank.. time to expand my fishy brain abit! But I have to say for being a non-ID person.. I'de want that fish in my tank.... idk why but the piebald color morph is "desireable" to me where even Plats and melanistics don't do much or me. Thanks for shareing that is one cool fish.

The tail fork is way too deep for a channel, it appears to me. The guy looks like Danny DeVito though
I wonder what became of the Asian cat.Hopefully it was saved and taken to an aquarium and not to a fish market.
