I caught a approx 3" perch
and put him in with my 2 JD's
all is well except he doesnt seem
to want eat pellets or flakes. Any
ideas on what else i could try.

Perch are cool water fish, and jd's are tropical fish. This will not work out, either get a suitable setup for it or euthanize it. DO NOT release it.

If you decide to keep it, you will probably have to get it started on live foods first. If your lucky it may take frozen foods...

good advice.

try blackworms, scuds, daphnia for live-tilapia, pollock and bloodworms for frozen. keeping in mind none of them are complete in and of themselves.

Just because it is a cold water fish doesn't mean you can't keep it with your tropical fish. Lakes reach fairly high temperatures during the summer. I've done it with a number of fish. I would get it some freeze dried blood worms and it should eat that after a few days once the perch gets hungry enough it will eat.
