Like the title says I have a small eastern painted turtle and I was wondering if I could feed him banana leaves. I know that they can be eaten by other animals such as cattle and some fish but I have never heard about turtles. Anyone with some input would be appreciated thanks.

I would think that it is okay but not sure. Also DO NOT feed it to your snapper, they are not herbivores and should be fed accordingly.

ohh ok red leafed lettce they eat (or so ive heard from care sheets) so thought maybe i couldt feed him this insted.

OP: iwanna see a vid of him eating banna leaves!:headbang2

why? i have a banna tree indoors and i would never cut leaves off it. they dont grow that many at a time

correction, after my wife moved some old leaves on my bananna tree she found another bananna tree. no clue how it sprouted but SWEET!!

now got 2 dwarf bananna trees indoors

I have 5 trees of various variety's in my yard and down here in florida they grow pretty fast. I almost have another new leaf every couple of days and the leaves are 2' long and about 1' wide.

None of those turtles are very fownd of the kind of leafs banana trees provide, you can use them but I doubt any will be eaten if a consistent way. Also dont forget to not expose turtles to plant material that has been expossed to pesticides or fungicides. Banana leafs are however a owesame food for sulcatas, red foots, stars, etc.

Actually contrary to popular belief, common snappers eat a large amount of aquatic vegetation. Mine use to LOVE to eat water lettuce and anacharis along with shredded zucchini, yellow squash and carrots. I also gave him strawberries as treats.
