Hey al me again. My Jag is still way to small for feeders it's only like 2 inches. But I wanted to know can this fish live off mostly feeders. Like I know a lot of people assume that about Oscars but they need a lot of veggies to and that is why pellets are best for them. Can a jag live off gupies and other feeders???(i know about qtine don't worry). Also since theres the big problem with qtine are N. american minnows and worms that you buy at your local fishing store good food??? i would suspect they have less diesease then pet store feeders and guppies.

It isn't advised. Not the best diet for them. Thier diets are just like oscars.

I wouldn't advise it either. I would get it onto some kind of pellets. Most feeders regardless of petstore or bait shop don't take all that good of care of the feeders. The should st be QT.

Worms from a bait shop are fine though, I buy them 24 dozen at a time and feed them to my rays.

Fish from a bait shop are just as risky as from a LFS. They are either farm raised like the LFS feeders or wild caught. Worm should be fine, so should other inverts. I would not make feeders the staple of your fish's diet. For one thing, it's expensive, you are going to have to buy a lot in order to feed a Jag that can grow over a foot long, your also have to QT them and that can take a month. Feeders make good treats but lack a lot of what a Jag needs to be healthy.

Feeders arent the most nutritious food for your fish. In the wild they eat a much more varied diet that often includes crustaceans, insects, small mammals, etc which helps w/ nutrition. I would advise using pellets like Hikari Gold. (Cheaper, healthier, brings out better colors)

i feed mine minnows or a few goldfish every week or two, he gets so excited about it i can't resist, but i mostly feed pellets, freeze dried krill or crickets, and omega one flakes
