From what I read they are mostly vegitarians. What is a good staple to feed them. I have 3 and they get a variety of foods: Flakes, pellets, and frozen blood worms. They eat very well with no problems. I was just wondering what would be a good staple to make sure they are getting everything they need.

how big are they?

when mine were younger I used to feed them:

blanched lettuce
cichlid pellets
tetra colour bits
flakes or crisp.

now that they are old and big, they mainly eat large floating food sticks (the cichlid ones from tetra) along with colour bits and crisps.

they don't get much vege matter any more, although I used to feed them my plant trimmings all the time.

They pretty much eat anything so its easy to get them to eat what you want. I use hikari cichlid excel pellets, mostly veggie based. ;)

They are eating anything I put in the tank. I picked up some veggie flakes just to make sure they get a variety in thier diet. Right now the biggest one is about 3 1/2". They are really fast swimmers when they want to be. So far so good.

I feed mine the regular tetra flakes, and those bastards help themselves to my aquatic plants. I've lost three small plants, and my java ferns are shrinking by the day. It's cool though.

my three ate blood worms, cichlid carnivor pellots, mysis shrimp, and even guppies!
all before they got eaten by my gars

Welcome aboard
My Silver Dollar's prefer to eat food flake food and nibble off NLS jumbo massive pellet. I suggest floating or slow sinking pellet food small enough to fit in the SD's mouth.
