I've fed my giant gourami dog food. Not his staple diet but a few for treats here and there...he loves it..

REALLY? makes me wonder hmmm go buy 10 lbs of dog food, last a year LOL

Lots of people feed dog food to larger fish, especially pacu it seems.

I would just go to your feed store and buy a bag of fish farm pellets. Same cost, but smaller particles for your fish.

Don't use dog or cat food as a staple for your fish. Terrestrial pet food is formulated differently than food for fish. Well, the good fish food is anyway. The fish will grow big and look impressive from the outside, but internally dog food can lead to some health problems. I wouldn't even use it as treats for cichlids. But if you must feed dog food to cichlids use it only as an occasional treat and not as a staple. There are a few other threads like this that you can search and read for yourself if you want to see what others say about the subject.

As a treat once in awhile is fine but it can cause fat cells to build up on the liver and other organs if fed as a staple. I also feed my GG beniful healthy weight dry dog food(thats what my fat dogs eat) as a treat but very careful not to feed too much or too often...

I have a large pond stocked with bullhead, channel cat, bass, koi, bream, you name it....about .50 acre and I have people ask if I feed my fish Dawg food.....and I simply ask them "Do you eat dog food?"......they just look at me funny and say no, and I say neither do I...... I am no expert on any type of fish by any means but I know that certains times of the year and water conditions in my pond I have to feed with the floater "medicated" food because of the water conditions....but I would never feed my catfish Dawg food.

X2!!!

Not to mention most Dog/Cat food is full of filler, & most of the filler is wheat grain.
If i wanted my fish to eat grain, I'd feed them rice.
:D

Not a good idea, there are a few threads on this already. It's not advisable don't do it.
