I am looking at one of the pentair fiberglass tanks. The inside dimensions is 60 x 30“. The tank has a very thick lip around it, which can bring it up to 66 inches. The space I have is 65 inches. Does anyone know if I can shave down the lip till it fits in? Does it give structural support? As you seen in the picture, there’s several levels of it.

I just googled it, it would seem fine to sand down a inch or so i would just be careful as its fiberglass and those small hairs can irritate your skin and i would clean it up well don't leave any residue behind

Thank you. Can i seal it with anything?

My concern would be if the structural ribs are hollow or not. These tanks pop out of a mold tho so the top lip would b the widest at 66”. You might just be lucky enough to only need to cut the top lip and not the ribs. Id cut 1/2” from each side so there pretty much still in tact. \___/ there shaped like this.

the ribs should be solid. if you shave an inch off of them you should be fine. they are there for structural suppor and rigidity. CHeck with the manufacturer for details they shoul be happy to inform you . As far as a sealent I would think that a normal batch of fiberglass resin would work fantastic. A protective mask to prevent you from breathing the dust during ANY sanding or cutting is Highly recommended. Again check with manufacturer for their recommendations as well. As always ymmv
