Im interested in creating a aquarium using a large glass vase, although idk what filter could work well in this type of enclosure, if any.

Small sponge filter? Any pics of the vase you are thinking of using?
There isnt enough room in it for a internal filter, are there any canister filters that are small enough?
How big is the vase? Pics?
Be cautious, as even nano filters are meant to filter a larger volume than most vases. You may end up with a cyclone in there. Even an airstone on a small air pump may create too much water movement.
Plants, such as pothos, will help eat nitrates and phosphorus, but most fish will need something that creates an oxygen exchange at the surface.
