Hi, thanks./
Its happens to quite a few people.. I think with eheims:

The amount of pressure that cover gets from those corner clips it has is not very much at all. imo.
Its a very straight forward set-up,, so I dont think it's me. Tonight I needed it in a pinch (was gonna set it up in a big bucket..and piece broke right off,, ($42 to replace that piece) forget that one.
The reason I was doing this is bc the HOB Penguin 350 I just bought for the 55 got so loud making a grinding noise. I had to turn it off. I was sure it could make the fish crazy.
it's the sand.. If you have sand in your substrate and fish that are raising hell shifting
it around, its impossible to keep out.. and once it's been in a few times.. it got worse and wore..minor adjustments no longer working.
I did everything to it.. Sand and HOBs just dont mix/
So now I have nothing but Hagen powerhead with the aqua clear attachment and some bags of media//
That will do until I decide which way to go here.
I love the idea of a canister but they do leak sometimes. I was wondering if I could rig up a switch that if it got wet would cut the circuit and then just have the canister in a basin. Sounds complicated. Ill probably go with no substrate of bigger type gravel like found n lake beds, or just bare rock. Like tiles/
