I'm setting up a 75 gallon tank, and im wondering what the best option would be for filtration. I know about the fluval fx5 and i assume thats what ill go with, buuuut if i could find a more "cost effective" solution, what would be good?

Aquaclear 110, cheap and efficient. Ac110 will solve all your problems. Need more filtration? Ac110, need less filtration? Ac110, low on money? Ac110, to much money? Ac110.

haha sounds like aqua clear 110 then. caught in a hurricane with no shoes on? Ac110

Hi i have a 75gallon tank set up for my small oscars, that are very messy with food and the poooo. So i run 10x gph to help with this prob,I run the fluval 405,304,and the new C4 but i don't trust just one filter on my tank because if one goes down i got something filter my tank.

If you're looking to save money I would get an AC110, only $61.95 on amazon. Personally I would use a Fluval 405, $149.99. fx5 is hella overkill for a 75 gallon.

i'm runnin a 403 and an aps 1400ef and they seem to be doing a good enough job

An FX5 on a 75G is just over 8x turnover per hour, which is certainly ample, but not hugely overkill. I run exactly the same turnover on my 80G and the current is not particularly strong at all really.

What I would advise anyone running something like a 75G tank is to have two smaller filters instead of one bigger one. Firstly, if one filter dies, then your second is a great backup. Secondly, the overall flow around the tank is better spread out with two filters than from a single filter output.
