There is a 2 foot one of these being given away around the corner from me. I sorta wanna save it but I'm not sure I can get over how ugly they are, lol

If you have the room, Id say go for it. Their fantastic personalities more than make up for their "ugliness".

If you have the space, do it, I have two, a gg like the one you're about to adopt, and a rtgg.

Wow:eek: What an awesome specimen! Imo he needs at least a 300 to live comfortably. If you have the tank space it's a no brainer.

Hi. Love this thread. I thought to share pics of my O. Septemfasciatus since there was mention of the 4 species in the GG family and two have been shown already. If someone has some pics of the unicorn level Elephant Ear GG, we then have all represented. :) I have had this guy since he was 3" and that was 21 years ago. He is currently 18" , by himself in a 100 gal. His long time companion of 20 years (a syndontis cat) passed away a year ago at age 25. He was in a funk for over a month (eating very little or not at all) but is back to normal now. He surely missed his buddy. :-(

Amazing, 21 year old, that must be pretty unusual, nice looking fish, a true wet pet.

Thanks. According to what little info I can find on these, supposedly their lifespan is around 40-50years (also cross referencing O. Goramy info, any confirmation on this?). How long has some other GG owners (any species) have had theirs?
