Fire eel help.

clowns are smart I do this method to feed my L24 and they still go and steal the food anyways. What I have noticed that helps the intensity of the food thief is to feed the clowns first their own food to distract them then drop the food for the intended target they still know what it brings when they see the pvc stick they still rush right over to nab their share not as intense so I just add extras so everyone can be happy
Yep my clowns are glutons, then swim upside down at the top when food first goes in, they steal food from each others mouths, they're nice and full bodied and I have to over feed so anything else gets some and they're still small with the biggest just over 4inches ?

I keep the 2 eels in a 78-84 temp it swings one way to another depending on what heater I’m working with mostly it hits 78 as of late but I rather have it be at the 82 zone (yeah got stupid heaters on my end here and a super cold basement). They started out in a 20g L as tiny ones and once they were hitting 6” and was eating out of my hand I moved them up to the 75g tank with the Jaguar catfish. That Particular tank has 6 Jaguar cats, a couple of Colombian red and blue tetras that survived an illness and a pair of angelfish with a 6” L114 growout survivor. I am not sure if I want the eel pair to be moved into the 112g yet that tank has the biggest pleco I have in the fish room the L24 and it’s hard enough to have her hiding spots and have swimming space for her. The eels love it when I set up so many hiding spots in the tank for them. If they move into the 112g the hiding spots will be a problem.

Both will eat cut up tilapia strips, mysis shrimp, scallops, bloodworms occasionally, brine shrimp through turkey baster, one will eat shrimp the other one loves earthworms.

I lost my 2 biggest clown loaches 6” due to my own stupidity so back to having smaller ones I think biggest one is clocking in at 3.5” and working on getting more zebra loaches now got 2. They’re so entertaining!I would get queen loaches if I see them at my trusted LFS too but they’re not available at all guess it’s a seasonal species

i have overcrowding issue IMO so been doing WCs every other day or two days so might be a factor why the eels are growing ? I feed the eels every other day. The biggest one gets at least 2-3 medium shrimp to herself the cranky one gets at least 4-5 earthworms in one sitting

I have a 150g stock tub on a standby. My plans of getting at least 280 plus custom acrylic tank built has been halted due to the pandemic and my roomies changing job sites 75 miles away due to that so I’m back to not having much fish money to play around with as a single homeowner I have to make due with what I have and wait until the right used acrylic tank pops up but I know I can grab bigger glass tanks just don’t like them due to the weight and being unable to move them on my own. I rather not have a stock tub due to humidity AND having a water loving purebred Bengal cat. She’s one of the worst cats with fish I’ve ever had as wrecked havoc on my tanks multiple times. Her and indoor stock tub might not be a good idea.

Next weekend I am planning on doing hard count on my Jaguars do visuals on them to check their health and growth rates so removing everything and rearranging tank once again for now I don’t think the eels are cramped in the 75 g they enjoy their hiding spots the tank is always dirty looking due to feeding times when I have the camera out haha 3D283C98-2F72-406D-9A1A-4AD0EB285872.png9B0D8063-9FD2-419A-B612-F040996062B2.png

Wow they look amazing, love the colouration and patterning on them, I only wish mine would be bold enough that I could get a good photo. Yep started my guy off in a 20 long before moving it to a 45. They look happy in there and look like they've got plenty of room so I think you've got some time to play with. Ah sucks about your clowns, they're great fish. You're running you're tanks warmer than mine, might be the reason yours are growing quicker, may have to increase the temp a little plus you've been able to get them eating better food, mine still is pretty much only interested in live food. Had to look up the Jaguar catfish, they're nice looking fish never seen them before. Yep Bengal's have a strong predator instinct, my friend has two and sometimes I worry they might bring home a dog instead of a mouse or bird ?. Thanks again for all the help he seems to be getting a little bolder finally, I see his head a lot more just looking out at me and he's retreating less when I'm near, taken to putting food in every every so often when he's doing that but still awhile away from being able to get pictures.?
