Fire eel tank/ white fungus?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your water looks too clear to be dosed with the correct ammount of Victoria Green. I also didn't know you had tetras in the tank which would require you to dose at half strength. What is your current dosing rate?

I was only able to get the fungus cure, still trying to acquire the other two meds. The tetras are in a seperate tank now of their own. But there are still two 2" bumblebee cats in the tank. But I have been doing 50% water changes a day and dosing what the bottle says to do.

Well I'll add to my last post that I just looked at the ingredients on the box and its comprised of the two chemicals, duh! haha :) but yes I'm using it as I'm supposed to and I just barely did a water change before I took those pictures. I do have heavy filtration on the tank with just floss and nothing else!

Keep on following the directions on the box and do what it says. I would mention if this is not a true fungus ie saprolegnia this med will not be that effective. Also I don't know if the box tells you this but you should wate about a half hour after adding any water conditioner such as Prime etc. as it will diminish it's effectiveness. If you notice the condition getting worse or showing no signs of improvement then a switch of meds would be recomended. Follow the prescribe course of treatment and if no improvement we can switch meds but please post before you do. A closer picture of the affected area would be helpful to try and see what it actually is. Right now I'm going off the picture of the betta you posted.

Sounds good, I'll keep it posted. I'll try and get a better picture with my canon camera. I also don't use my tap water so I have no need for conditioners. I use ro water and then just remineralize in butts in my garage. So if this does not work, my LFS sales kenaplax meds.. but my hopes are up. The fish has lasted longer with the fungus than the last three fish that passed.. fingers x'd!

I'm almost sure he's a gonner, sorry for the bad pic and the picture of the eel stuck to the filter, but anything can help diagnose this problem I'm having in my juvenile tank.
