Firestone Rubber Roofing As Pond Liner

I know it has been done, but is there anything special to be concerned about when using rubber roofing as a pond liner? I just got a (new) piece of it (15x22) for $30 so I couldn't say no.

No worries! Its the same material as rubber pond liners, its just thicker.

Is rubber roofing often found cheaper than pond liner? Or was this a one time opportunity?

No its not. Its usually much more expensive. and comes in large rolls. small pieces cannot often be purchased.

I asked someone that does a lot of roofing if he knew where to get it, and he said "from my garage"

I don't think it's super hard to find as left overs. I'm just glad it sounds like it's going to do the trick
Should I rinse the powder that keeps it from sticking to itself off?

Yes. there are solvents made just for cleaning these liners. the guy you bought it from most likely has some.

you could prob just use acetone too, but just test a section first to make sure it doesnt melt it or anything..

Thanks!!!! What about a mild bleach solution? I plan on giving it a pretty good (bleach?) scrubbing, filling it with heavily dechlorinated water, letting it run for a while with a recirculation pump, draining it, filling it, running it through the filter, and then finally putting the fish in at the same time as the seeded media.
