Its valued at 30k because that was what they were offered from private collectors, they chose to keep it on display to the public, which makes sense because it is the only one above the surface of the ocean, so why cant everyone see it?

I think that they should've sold it for that much; they certainly could make good use of $30,000 vs. have a fish that could die at any moment & is valued at that much money. Heck, they could probably afford to get another one and still have money leftover if they sold it!

If they could get another one and still have leftover money, I'm sure they would sold it long time ago... They may have 3, 4, or 10 x of $30,000, but that's the only one of that kind at the moment...
