Hi,

I didn't know where to post this so I picked a health section in the hope it is vaguely correct.

I have a single Flowerhorn, he is very well kept, perfect prams, and no disease in the tank etc so he is absolutely healthy and eating.

My question is more about behaviour..... Why does my fish turn into a nutcase when I play hip hop?

With classical, chill house, swing he will do huge figure 8 loops round the tank nice and slow, it's almost hypnotic if you watch him.

If I play hiphop or D&B he goes bonkers, he literally changes direction to the beat!

He doesn't seem to get stressed out if anything he seems excited, his colours pop and he gets really playful with his mirror.....

Is HipHop making my fish angry? Is he possibly reacting to me bobbing my head to the music?

Is this normal behaviour? I have been keeping fish for nearly 20 years and I have never seen this!

As I said he isn't showing any signs of illness, he is eating like an absolute beast and his Nuchal Hump is bigger than a golf ball so he is super happy.

I just don't want to play music that's going to hurt the fish..... I mean is that even a thing? I know fish don't have ears but he is clearly sensing the difference in the music and reacting..... I mean seriously is I'm watching TV he just plays with the balls and floating toys I give him, as soon as music starts he starts doing this weird stuff.....

Sorry this is a weird question!

It's probably the Bass. He can feel the beats in the water, he thinks it's probably a fish in distress and is looking for it.

Well that's my guess anyways 🤷

Looking for the hurt fish, to eat.

Or it could be the other way around. Big spashes mean big animals possibly predators and he wants to hide. Do he have any hides in The tank?

I believe it can feel the bass hence why fish have a lateral line so they can since vibrations.
I actually started a post a few years ago Can fish hear.
