I remember when I was just a kid, I saw some E! True Hollywood Story (or whatever similar show was around at the time) about some country singer.. whose name escapes me.. and I clearly remember her stating to the interviewer who was asking about her FW fish.. "I would never, ever name these fish. Dontcha know it's terribly bad luck?" Being a young fish noob, it was like an epiphany. I must have jumped right out of my seat and exclaimed, "NO WONDER THEY ALL DIE!!" (It couldn't have been the ammonia levels.. or the poor filtration.. or the fact that I had never vaccuumed the substrate, ever..) I guess kids really do believe everything they hear!

Somehow, the whole "naming fish is bad luck" superstition stuck with me. And although I've learned so much more about the hobby and take such good care of my babies, sometimes I still wonder if it's the fact that I didn't name them that keeps them alive and so healthy. You never know!

Sengal Bichir named Hannibal
Red Snakehead named Moreau, but re-named him Puppy after his wiggly "Feed ME" dance reminded me of one.
Ropefish is Tweedle Dum...Dee died
Not a pred,but really nasty,so my albino rainbow shark is called HellFire.

Everyone else isn't named yet.

Lots of fish become Mr. and/or Mrs. (breed name), but a few will randomly get a better name if it pops into my head and sticks.
