Very interesting! I didn't know, or perhaps had forgotten, that you don't use a dedicated mech medium and relied on settling to remove so much of your particulate matter. And I had to smile when I look at the cloudiness that you draw attention to, in your tanks stocked with large numbers of filleting-size monster fish...and then compare it to some of the horrendous water clarity we see in small tanks containing small fish, pictured so often here and elsewhere on the internet. Those other keepers often use all kinds of excuses and alibis for the water clarity, or lack thereof..."I just did a water change"..."right after vacuuming the gravel"..."I was washing my dog in the tank"...you get the idea.

It's hard not to look at some of those tanks and wonder why the pictures weren't simply taken at more opportune moments, when the tanks looked better. Maybe they never do look better? Good thing that water clarity and water quality are not equivalent; many of those hobbyist tanks would be unlivable...meanwhile, your big tanks full of big fish always look great.

Viktor, perhaps you should continue to use the ultra-cheap crap pellets in one of your tank systems, and just figure out a way to harvest that stuff and perhaps make a deal with SeaChem or one of those other UCM's (Useless Crap Makers). Looking at some of the stuff they sell, I'd bet they could come up with a way to package and market it to their army of unsuspecting fanboys.

Imagine the ad copy: "Our new line of Viktor's Premium Mulm aquarium water additives improves upon nature. Mulm has been used by aquarists for decades to stimulate spawning and to better mimic natural water conditions in their tanks. The mulm that is normally produced in your tank is a result of the digestion of food materials by fish, resulting in small quantities of ultra-fine particulate matter, referred to as nano-poop. We turbo-charge this process by actually feeding the fish with s**t, which their bodies then double-distill into large quantities of the purest, finest mulm known to man. We then harvest it, wash it, sterilize it, irradiate it, age it, laser-cook it and finally package it for your convenience. There is no mulm available on the market that compares to ours! And it's impossible to overdose it! The more you use...the cloudier your water becomes...just like nature, but better!"

It would sell! I'm sure of it! :)
