Fish tanks and air fresheners

It's very obivious that we're talking about two different kind of air fresheners. The spray kind and the non spray kind. Having an air freshener next to your tank will not adversely effect the fish just as standing next to your fish tank while wearing deodorant will not effect them. Spraying air freshening sprays will effect your fish just like dunking your deodorant stick in your tank will effect them. This is common sense.

I burn scented candles all the time in my apartment, never have seen any ill effects on my tanks.

I would never use anything that sprays into the air, I also would never use incense which could be to strong.

How do you know what's "too strong" for the fish?

Piranha_Tim plug-ins ok with ventilation, try baking soda sprinkled on carpets (even dog if you don't over do it).
