Fish wall build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From when I started planning it, about a year, but I didn't actually start building until like june or july, so about 6 months, working on it when I had time, night and weekends here and there.

That is one amazing set up!
the size difference in the tanks make it look better!
and when the wall looks black then it makes the tanks stand out more! :)
i bet you dont have much light in the viewing side of the tank...
looks much better in the dark! :D

Yeah, the only thing we do down there is watch the fish and watch TV so there's not a whole lot of light on that side of the wall. Most of the room light actually comes from the fishtanks.

On the downside, my sump just started leaking. Its an old 40 breeder with a metal frame and a slate bottom. I resealed it once a few years ago, but I think its been bumped enough times sitting on the floor to rupture a seal. Luckily its one of the sides, not the bottom, so it will still hold about 3" of water, barely enough to keep the pumps running. I'm getting a new (used) acrylic wet/dry for free, just needs some work, so I'll post some pics after I pick that up this afternoon.

:drool::drool::drool::drool:Dude you had a dream and made it come true ...woo hoo

Thanks guys...turns out the sump wasn't leaking, I'm just dumb :p I had the drip tray crammed with filter floss for mech filtration, and it was too much so the drip tray was overflowing. I had the w/d pushed up against the back of the sump tank, so the water was spilling over the back of the drip tray and wicking over the side of the tank, and around the bottom edge so I just thought it was leaking.

The good news is that I picked up a used acrylic sump for free from a guy in my reef club, so I swapped it out. I didn't figure out it wasn't leaking until all the work was done. But, the new sump is a lot nicer, gives me more options for mech filtration (filter bags).

The 200 is still empty, I have ot get off my butt and sand it down. I have the epoxy paint to repaint it, just have to finish cleaning it up first.
