Florida Gar

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
First of all - I disagree with people giving advice before knowing the basics. How big is the gar? And is he in the 75 now? What are the tankmates?
It's true that they don't mind sluggish water, but they do enjoy some water flow. They won't use caves, but any other tankmates might.
If it's a baby, the more plants, the better, if it's the typical 8-12 inch size, then an assortment plants would be nice, but they do enjoy their swimming space. A hang-on-back (HOB) filter would be just fine.

I have my 12" in regular filter flow, ive never seen of any size use a cave. Mine is in 6 ft long tank and he really doesnt swim back and forth alot. I dont see him care much for plants but babies will like floating plant cover.
