All i have to point out is that don't go expecting it to be like the amazon. You will see lots of anoles, turtles, and gators depending on where you go. I don't know the criteria for compiling the invasive list (aka if they found breeding groups or just individuals). But don't plan on seeing veiled chams, african rocks, or boas unless its at a zoo or pet store.

I would say don't expect alot of pythons/boas after the winter that florida had alot of stuff died off but there are still some surviving burmese pytons and redtails that have been found this year. You can see alot of american alligators and from what I understand there is a pretty big population of spet. caimens now there as well. I will tell you this from going to reptile shows there if you plan to collect any venomous you better have a venomous permit in florida if you don't just let them be. Also just had a friend get back from southern florida last week and she showed me pics she took of a baby sea turtle they found alive on the beach. Corse all they did was pick it up and carry it to the water but still a awesome find there.
thanks... i thiink. i am not expecting alot, and so far have not seen alot. have seen one mediterranium gecko and lots of cuban brown anoles. < so far have only caught 2 anoles but got lots of pics. also found some neat fish while dip netting.... will need IDs for those. any ways, i will post pics when i get back (next saturday) and by thew way i am in key largo. am going road cruising to night and going to everglades and gator farm tommorow. wish me luck...
i went last year and i gotta say,it doesn't compare to what it used to be.go to south florida.i found lots of snakeheads there.i found oscras,red devils,convicts,jack dempseys jags cubans ect there
I caught a 1-2ft black skink with a red head right outside of jacksonville. Very nice looking. I didnt keep it. I know this probably doesnt help at all. Look under wooden walkways that are in the woods or around golf courses. Always creatures under there. Enjoy your trip

do you mean a .5 foot skink, I don't think there are any one to two feet skinks in jax. It sounds like a broad headed skink though.
No, he was about fingertip to elbow long. Caught at Fernandena Beach. Im sorry i dont know my Herps too well. He wasnt shiney and geasey looking. Head was redish and i think a bit of blue and red in tail. Probably wasnt a skink. Maybe somebodys pet. It looked like those little fast lizards that are all over the place in FL only much bigger(anoles?) and had iguana-like structure almost. This was about 5yrs ago. Any ideas?
