I would listen to what the vet says. I understand people her are trying to help, up honestly 98% to 99% of the people here do not have a DMV or years of vet medicine training.
Yeah. I must say by the look of it he appears perfectly fine and I have stopped all medications. If one looks at him, he appears like the way he did before with the exception that he cannot stand/support on his right side. And whenever he sees us he tries to swim to us but he will fall off and stand on his tail unable to get up. If we support him on the right side he stands but if we support him on the left side he falls off to the right. On monday I fed him 1 pellet . Tuesday 2 pellets and yesterday 3 pellets. I do not see any poop from him after Tuesday. Has he digested it completely or is he suffering from constipation after the medication? Planning to give a bit of peas today.
I am hoping that he doesn't suffer a permanent disability and can keep on improving and swim back again like the way he did before.
I am still keeping him in the bucket and have attached a filter. I do 25 to 50% water change 2 times a day. Water level is reduced and is around 1 foot above the fish.
Anyone wants to suggest anything to get back his balance?
Update: He died a couple of hours ago. He was showing signs of improvement but not sure what lead to his death. RIP! Sorry to explain but his body was curved when I took him out. I pity him for the pain he had to undergo.
Sorry to hear that... I also had a loss yesterday, when downstairs and didn't see my rhino pleco. But upon scanning the tank, I found him... just the plated head a spinal cord and the tail fin... they cleaned him out...
I'm thinking your fish probably had some digestive issues... I have read that these fish can have problems with that, the constant imbreading to get specific traits has weakened their genetics and often times this results in weakened physical traits.
