Fluval Biomax vs pre-filter

Ok whats the difference between the 2. Because i just loaded my fx5 with pre-filter rings. Will it store enough beneficial bacteria? Thanks for any infos

Prefilter is inert so it just blocks bigger particles. Prefilter is a waste of space in the fx5. Fill it with biomax.

Holy shibby so it won't do the samething i just spend over $50 on pre-filters thinking it would work the same

I use the Pre-filter in one basket and Bio-max in the other in in both my FX5's..

Thank god i almost **** in my pants i filled both of my fx5 with this stuff and it wasn't cheap thinking it would hold BB.

So would you guys say my prefilter medias good enough?

I think it will do its job for you. There are surfaces on that for bacteria to take hold, your good.
