New here, got a question for you FX6 guys. Setting up and noticed a lid O Ring in box. Looked on lid it has already a gasket affixed. Do I put o ring on also or is it a spare, if a spare, a spare for what? Just confused. Please help.

Thanx

Welcome aboard

I personally don't have any experience with the FX filters but members will chime in.

Welcome to mfk om.

If the new fx6 has an extra o ring, just save it. Later on if something goes wrong you have a spare. I had an o ring go on a fluval 305 and it was after lfs hrs so had to wait till the next day to get a replacement. That was a huge pita.

I bought two brand new FX4s. Both came with what seems like an extra o-ring, but I think they are just factory scraps they used to hold things in place in the box. Both had an o-ring in place, and both have been running for over a year now with no issues. In my thinking, if they were going to give a spare o-ring it would be in a bag, not wrapped around hoses in the box.

That’s good to know. I only have experience with used so far. But with that being said after 2 years the one I have is still running strong.
