Fluval Osaka

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have wanted one of these since the day I first saw it. Round corners, no center brace and no scratching, awesome. Way too pricey IMO though and you cannot have a sump in that stand. Some things to consider. My LFS told me they could only get them in 80/240 gallons. Odd restrictions.

I didnt know they made these tanks that big, I thought the Osaka 320 (around 85 gallons) was the largest.

"All About Pets" in Scapoose Oregon was the place that said they have a lead on a vendor that can get it in 240 gallon. Give them a call if you want to get a price check, I can remember how much she quoted me since it was a while ago but it was ALLOT. Ask for Lea.

so i got my camera and took pics, then battery died.. now i cant find the charger. maybe ill have some pics sometime next year at this rate

Great looking tank with a great looking stand, but can you custom-build glass or acrylic covers for it, maybe? It would definitely solve the evaporation and fish jumping out problem. Some Amano aquascaping would look so awesome in this tank!!!

You could do fiberglas resin top. Just build a wood frame (simple or complex shape/curves), stretch fleece over it, coat it with fiberglas resin until totally saturated, then let it cure. You can even cut a piece out & add door hinges, or inlay glass for the light, depending on your skill level. Sand it, paint it, gelcoat it & you got a sweet top for that sexy tank.

Thanks JK47 I'll have to give them a call and see what the damage is.

Its no problem Movitt I can wait haha

I don't see why you couldn't build a custom acrylic or glass top for it though I'm not sure if there are any braces to hold the glass.

ya im thinking about building a top out of lexan. im dumping a gallon a day in it now. i have seen some stream line designs that some of the cube tanks use

I have Osaka 260 and I love it especially with the bentcorners. Yeah, need to top-up but it's my humidifier in winter time :)

I like the open top so I can see my fish just like viewing pond while standing/feeding. And view the tank while sitting on the couch. Yeah, not suitable for jumping fish.

Lexan is a great idea. Is there a lip inside the top rim for a glass/acrylic top?

Only one middle bracket. I think you can make 2 piece and lay on the top of the rim.
