Not sure. Snails are a mystery. If I get healthy stock to start with, I have no issues. If I buy from a tank that has some crawling around and other half hidden in their shells, I get those unusual deaths as well.
That being said, I loved nerites until they started laying eggs everywhere. Their eggs are very hard, never hatch, and seem to never dissolve. Looks disgusting. Sulawesi snails are great if you can find those
