Freeze Dried Krill...Your experience?

I believe this food should be pre-soaked in water from the tank for 5 minutes before feeding. Two reasons I believe in doing this. First it helps to soften the food to make it easier to digest. Second reason is that it allows the krill to expand to its final size before it reaches the fish's stomach or digestion track. I also believe this food should only be used as a treat for most species and not a daily food.

Sounds great to me.

Toni my Oscar got a couple each meal. It really made the orange explode.

Her prior to the addition of freeze dried krill each meal.

After a while of having each meal.

And lastly her fully grown.

Her coloration might be just genetics, and only coincidence that it blossomed so much more after the addition of the krill. But it is the only change I can offer up as explanation for the sudden change. She started the change while still in a std 55gal tank. So can't give it to bigger tank, cleaner water theory.

Very true I had a young jag die from freeze dried krill.

Jex, that’s one of the prettiest Oscars I’ve seen.

Hybrid, I’m sorry to hear that, but how do you know for sure the death was caused by the FD krill?

It was to hard and got stuck the wrong way in its throat. Died within the hour of feeding.

I offer these to my thorichthys and cribroheros species since invertebrates are a part of their natural diet. Maybe once or twice a week. Their main food is NLS pellets.

Difficult...at least for me...to find the large containers of dried krill. I used to buy it by the kilo at JEHMCO. I like the suggestion on pre-soaking the krill. I'll have to try that. As a rule, one meal a week for most of my fish is dried krill. The color enhancing benefits is a fact.
