Fresh to Salt without changing the water???

Ok I will do both have filter feeding corals and a skimmer that I will try to build with my grandpa. Do filter feeding coarls need light though? And 2time month would be ok for wc? In the begining of the month and at the end?

i started my 29 gallon reef, i suggest you also stat small and work your way up, i was going to do a 300 gallon right off the bat but because i dont have tens of thousands of dollars at my disposal i started small my setup is not yet done and im at a good 500$ for a 29 gallon plenty more to add:) next tank for me is a 5 gallon salt tank:)

I currently have a 55 gallon and a 29gallon not really
mine but it's my aunts and I go there every week to do a wc for her and these are all coral. You have to start with a big tank somewhere down the line not just go up 10gallons each time cause thats a waste of money and all that. And I still have the question on the water changes.

Since it's way harder to do a 1,800gallon am
just going to do my 670gallon pond so I can still keep a lepord and a cali roundray going to spend about $200 on the salt witch is more reasonable and then I can have more money for live sand I already have the live rock and with that pond I have filter.

Careful with that leopard shark in a 670 gallon. A leopard shark does get huge, if your talking about the ones you find on California coastal waters. They will get huge, hitting beyond 4ft within a few years. Also remember, leopard sharks likes to eat rays that are small enough. I caught a small ray once off at SF bay and while reeling in, a leopard chased it and almost took it. Got it up onto the pier just in the time. :screwy:

And when I lose water I can just add fesh water right? Cause salt does not evaporate

And yes your suppose to refill the water with freshwater only. Only add saltwater when you do water changes.

They are actually a protected species and are HIGHLY illegal to own if they are under 32 inches. They also need around 5,000 gallons.

The six defendants were arrested on Tuesday, when the indictment was unsealed. They face maximum penalties of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and possible requirement to pay restitution for each count, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

You should know your information before you suggest such a reckless decision. That would have been nice for him to have all those fines eh?

They are illegal to own under 32" inches if your fishing for them. I see leopard sharks in LFS once in a while on a demand order. And they are also illegal to take more than 3, so does this mean you cannot own more than 3?
Now lets not just talk about leopard sharks, let's talk about some other fish that are highly protected also. White sturgeon perhaps, they are illegal to take home under 46". But I see white sturgeon being sold at LFS on demanding order. Hmm...weird.

Anyother cold water sharks? It's not really the gallons it's my dimensions it's going to be 9.5x6"7" that's the width and length sorry am just goin by this caresheethttp://animal-world.com/encyclo/marine/sharks_rays/LeopardShark.php and they say they can go with small fish so I was guessing a small Ray would do fine. Maybe I'll add something else, anyother cold water fish? I like the lepord cause it's sooo active
