I would agree but it is a bad ideal to advertise that the house has a gun. same for CCP, I would rather surprise the bad guy with a gun, than letting him know first that I have one.

Agreed, the moment the bad guy knows something's up, should. E when he hears the click of the hammer, and for goodness sakes people use something more powerful than a 9mm

nope, 10' and 20', its a sub compact, you 200 yards away i need a rifle, not a pistol.

You can hit 200y, with about any 40, just takes practice (look up some articles on long range pistol shooting).
