Is the frozen krill that we buy in flat packs cooked? In raw shrimp the they are grey with clear flesh. the krill car pink/orange with white flesh. they look to be cooked. If this is true I can get small cooked salad shrimp very cheap.

Good question, I never really thought about it before.

I would imagine that these small shrimp would rot quickly. They are probably cooked right after unloading and then frozen for shipment to different companies.

I think that is just the color of krill.. even before it is cooked? I could be wrong.

My guess is that they are raw. Companys have no reason to cook them given that it would simply cost them more money!

Krill are orange. It is uncooked.

What pisses me off, is that by weight, krill is one of the most abundant animals on Earth yet it is so damn expensive!!!

Isn't that the truth!

However, you may have to take into consideration the costs associated with harvesting them. There is probably a bit more work involved in harvesting krill as opposed to crickets or the like.
