if your oscars are lying down on the bottom that is not resting. it is a sign that your oscar is stressed. (bad water quality, aggression from each other, too small of a tank, etc.)

but as for funny behavior, i used to have a few oscars that i taught to jump out of water for food. And i had one that would let me pet it. (it actually seemed to enjoy it)

Nah, that would be my first guess but I tested water @ the fishstore, they got a big sera testset, there's nothing wrong with the water.
As far as stress, I come close to the tank and it gets up, follows my hand like crazy and jumps for food. I think he wouldn't do that if he was in stress.

They don't do it everyday. We already found them lying around when they were still my brothers fish 6 months ago. His Green tried to eat one so he held the Oscars in a smaller tank which had a in-tank filter.
One morning my bro finds the white one like this:

He poked the fish, fish just swam away. Now he didn't change anything to the setup and the fish still lives so that must mean there's nothing wrong, else he would be dead by now I guess.

I looked it up on mfk and found one tread. I'll look it up again...

There's also a pumpkinseed with them in the tank. The pumpin always swims with his body strait up, but the oscars move very freely through the water like no other fish.

Lol I guess this would be one hell of a troll when I showed a vid of dead Oscars floating around the tank and laying on the bottom :P :P But no, its serious! :grinno: lol
