Gars Eating Frozen Shrimps?

I was just wondering, up until now, my Florida Gar has only eaten live fish - today, I saw it eating dead frozen shrimps that were meant for my Black Ghost Knife Fish. I was just wondering if this is normal or rare, and if anyone else has done it before (I know people who have done them with pellets).

Mine also eats market prawns and scallops, they dont seen to be fussy eaters

I have an alligator and a spotted gar, and so far i have not had any sucess getting them to eat anything other than live fish. I've starved em for a week and a half now, and am trying again tonight, but if it doesn't work, any suggestions on how to get them to accept frozen foods? Btw, I'm trying frozen "salad" shrimp.

I have a similar problem. My gar still eats only live fish. I tried to give her frozen pangasius. While it ignores. Tweezers, I waved to her mouth. While nothing.

I had the same problem at first. One day i gave it a try on freeze dried shrimps, at first they would chew on it and spit it out, later they came to love it. After the gars started munching on them, the snakeheads learned to to eat them aswell. Now my gars eat anything meaty, be it market shrimps or cut up Tilapia.

My fl gar prefers shrimp over live food anymore. I feed mine shrimp pellets and nightcrawlers.
