Guys,

Im really not trying to make a big deal of this, and would not have responded if Xander did not request one. But he is looking forward to my response! ;) In general there are certain things that when said do reek of negative attitudes. I dont think I have ever heard the term "Do Tell" in any way that has not implied attitude. It's just the way it is. I am in no way thinking that Xander is a bad guy, only that the specific statment would make just about anyone feel a bit of an attitude. Just imagine it in reality, and not on the interwebz..... lol.

If your superior suggested that he or she thought there was a better way for you to accomplish your goal, at work, or school per your current position, would it not taste of arrogance if your response was "Do Tell."?

Sorry guys, Im glad the sticky was returned. I guess Im just the feeling police today.

Chris

To each their own in the end, but Chris, I feel like i (at least relatively speaking) know both you and xander. and i have to disagree with you on the "do tell" statement. i can definitely see where you are coming from with what you said, but internet semantics is a difficult issue. knowing xander, i didn't take his statement as being arrogant in any way, he was genuinely asking what could be improved (which was the origin of that little phrase before we started making it into a sarcastic term). i assume you don't know xander as well as i do, and may have your own experiences with that phrase leading to your conclusions...that's definitely fine.

i think if there is potential for major confusion with how statements are taken, it's worth posting a neutral or interrogatory reply in open forum, and further details can be sent via PM. this hopefully smooths things over for everyone involved without causing problems.

i am not perfect in this issue by any means...usually if i am trying to be sarcastic i hope it comes across and i do post as such from time to time :)

i think this one can be stamped as miscommunication and we can all move on. i know you both would rather we all return to talking about gars at this point anyway :) --

HA, what isn't illegal in california. Having a life, hobbies, etc. are all not supported by the state government. Just be sure to pay the taxes and high gas prices and they'll be sure to stop you from having fun.

From what I understand, being an illegal in california is the way to go as you get all these benefits that US citizens do not get

I have a U.S. map to add to it, too. I figure that some people might be better with a color coded picture plus it might help with transporting gars through certain states. I'll try to get a world map done at some point, but the main legality questions seem to come from the U.S. more than any other country.

Green= Legal.
Brown= Possession of spotted gar (Lepisosteus oculatus), longnose gar (Lepisosteus osseus), and shortnose gar (Lepisosteus platostomus) is prohibited. The regulations do not mention the other gar species.
Purple= The regulations imply that possession of true gars is prohibited because there is a specific list of fishes that are allowed to be owned.
Red= Illegal.
Yellow= No information could be found.

WoW never knew so many states they where illegal in.. WI they are Legal to own.

Well, that was much quicker than expected; I had hoped to find much more information than I did... I got an entire five countries done! Yes, Singapore is in green, but it's pretty difficult to see. No, I do not have labels for the map; this was the best map that I could find that was one color.

Map Key:
Green = Gars are legal to own.
Red = Gars are illegal to own.
Purple = See the description for the country.
Brown = Refer to the U.S. gar legality information list and map.
White = Gar legality information has yet to be found. Please PM me if you know the regulations concerning owning gars in a particular country.

EDIT: Can I get this added to the Gar Legality sticky?

Canada may be tricky as well, i know that in Ontario spotted gars are endangered and illegal to possess. that maybe the only species of issue for the whole country, but it warrants further research when possible.--
