The HDD on my laptop is a 60Gb one partitioned in 2: 40Gb for OS and 20 Gb for documents - This way, if ever my OS gets sick or whatever, I can easily reformat it without losing any files... I also have 2 external HDD: 1 of 80Gb partitioned in 4 (1 partition especially for pictures, another 1 for music and the remaining 2 for movies, animes and TV series...) and another 1 of 320Gb partitioned in 2 (again for movies, animes and TV series...).To complete my cyber gear, I have a 20 inch LCD that extends the screen of my laptop (great for watching movies, etc. and for working on pictures), a surround system for sound, a CD/DVD reader on the laptop and an external CD/DVD writer...
we have similar gear, I too run a lappy with a large external LCD monitor.(32") My DVD burner is in the lappy and my DVD reader is in the monitor...you got me on the HDD's...what interface do you run the external HDDs with, USB2 or firewire? Whoa! 32"! so many things rigged to it... on a weekly basis I unplug its power supply to let it run on battery until the latter is completely discharged... that's good for its health Forgot to mention I also have a UPS to avoid any power fluctuations... had a PC that died because of that...

I got my wireless network under the desk and I'm a stickler for neat wires...
