Gilled Lungfish Have Landed in the US :)

They seem better than other African lung species, but I would probably worry about nipped fins keeping them together. I'm keeping them all individually now. They're crazy active and I think would do well with some fast moving tankmates like congo tetras, Meynnis/Myleus, some bigger barbs.
Update on these awesome fish now that they've been here and settled in for 2 weeks. Every one from the initial import is doing great (no losses or illness, but then again they are lungfish so I guess that's to be expected). They're far and away the most active lungfish species I've ever kept, and spend most of the day actively nosing around their tanks and swimming up through the water column. They eat just about everything I've offered them, but seem especially partial to Repashy (which they make a huge mess with) and Fluval bug bites (less messy).
Hard to gauge temperament since I keep them mostly in individual tanks, but the few I do have together haven't bothered each other and their fin filaments are as intact as they were when they arrived so it doesn't appear they're taking bites out of each other. I can't make a claim as to their compatibility with other fish but I would play it safe and probably treat them like other African lungfish species. Some still available - I'll be posting a couple up on Aquabid tomorrow but feel free to PM me if interested.

Mmm this is torture. There are unconfirmed reports of them in South Africa in the Northeast regions, gotta investigate
This is nice. I dont know if its related, but there seems to be a sudden rush in amphibius stocks around the globe. Around 20 specimens from Japan landed in S.Korea at the same time yours came in, and also seeing alot more in Singapore. I hope this means that the species will become more available from now on.
Just picked mine up and he is the cutest thing ever lol. Around 9cm
Funny you mention it - but yes, I just brought in a second shipment of these and because collecting has gotten easier and the logistics of transporting them in-country isn't quite so crazy the price has dropped substantially. My friends at Aqua Imports in Boulder are offering these new fish for $275 ea. To my knowledge, the fish from the first batch are still doing well but they do seem to grow fairly slowly compared to other African lungs.
I saw the post on facebook! Great price for these rare fish. I'm still on the fence on these haha. Any updated photos of the first batch?
