Gold Fish Bowl

Actually fancy goldfish and bowls go back centuries with Chinese selectively breeding and striving for a fancy goldfish which looks good from above and doesnt need to swim as much as its wild ancestors. Some of the most skilled fish keepers I know are able to keep fish without filtration for years healthily.

Glass bowls and inappropriate use of comets/shibumkins is a much more recent thing.

Goldfish can survive for a time in a bowl, but a child can also survive in a closet.

my goldfish (see avatar for one of them) would have to be chopped up to fit them in a bowl. 5 years is great but if you consdider that 5 years is 1/6th of a good, healthy 30 year lifespan, it starts to put things into perspective.

i used to keep goldfishin a bowl, dont do that anymore, it just seems cruel
also did you guys know that it is now illegal to keep goldfish in a bowl in rome

yep, i can only hope it'll spred to US, only then they'll still sell those damn 2g goldfish tanks(you know the ones that are a foot tall and about 6x8 footprint)

Whenever I overhear people at school telling thier friends that they keep fish, its usually just a betta in a drop of water and 3 goldfish in a 3G bowl. I chat them up on how much they know, but then they say you dont need to know anything to keep fish.
