IN FISH PARADISE
all or most of ppl do breed guppies or convict as a feeder fish ..

but there is another fish so easy no special needs + extra extra fry which is goldfish ( comet goldfish for Example )

all what it need is a some sort medium size tank ( 70 - 80 liters i guess ) and a PVC net in the bottom to hold the eggs or a mob or even some marbles

and the breeding temp is variable range ( 16 C to 26 C ) and the fry will be like 2 cm in a month .. so u can feed them for any type of fish even for discus in the first week of the fry

one of my friend is doing this job .. 3 breeding tanks 1 for fish it self 1 for breeding 1 for fry growout .. but he is going to sell them as a feeder fish after 1 month each ( about 2 cm ) cost 0.10 LE = 0.018 USA dollars while i get the 100 molly or guppy fry 2 cm with 20 LE = 3.63 USA dollars from the public pets market

so i am going to breed them for my own .. and the breeding pair of goldenfish here worth 10 or 15 LE = 1.8 or 2 USA dollars

here is a couple of pic of my own PVC breeding net it is very cool and do a perfect job ..

Good luck and i hope it works out for you. But most if not all breeding for feeder projects get dropped after a while cause the person figures out it is not worth the money, time, effort, or space to breed your own feeders. ------------I do not know about over there. But here alot of people buy in bulk from bait shops or even there lfs's supplier. I my self buy 2-3'' minnows from a local bait shop. I get a pound of minnows fro 14 bucks US. A pound is suppost to be 28-30 dozen. It might be or might not be, but it sure is alot of minners. I just keep a large feeder tank going. And for 4 cents a peice i can not beat it.

that is cool we have that here too but only in summer ( the wild guppy * with no colors even males have no colors so it is chip ) may be 1000 worth 35 LE = 6.3 USA dollars ..

but in winter they can't find it easily so no feeder guppy in winter that is why i have to breed my own + i ll Enjoy it and have a lot of fun + a chance to get new colors hybrid and so ..

that man will ll sell a lot of number Thousands that is how he gonna gain money .. 10,000 X 0.10 = 1000 LE = 181 USA dollars a month , the 1000 LE in a month that is a lot of money here

more cheaper than guppies and convicts and extra number than both too in each breed

and i ll not just breed them all the way i mean first time let us say that i ll have nearly 500 eggs then 500 fry .. that is a big number i ll stop breeding until that number almost finish or just had 2 breeds so that while one is still small oother will be feeder and that is it when the first group finished ll breed again and in main while i ll have the second group as a feeder .. that was as an example ..

i guess more than any thing it is fun :D

i knew just now that the goldfish contains something called " [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, Avant Garde]carotenoid " which is responsible of the red , orange , yellow colors in the predator fish that eat goldfish ( specially the Oscar fish ) although a lot of goldfish as food is not good that what i read ..

so .. ?? any ideas

it seems like i am talking to my self ... so it is ok

and i am sorry for any ideas and sorry that i made this thread ..

Good idea. It might not seem "fun" for some people but when you breed your own feeders you know they are disease free unlike LFS bought feeders. Its also cheaper in the long run if you did get some disease from a bunch of LFS bought Feeders now you have the cost of medication. Of course the best way to avoid disease is to get the fish on prepared food.

Seems like a cool net idea, although I am not that familiar with goldfish breeding.

breeding feeder fish is truly not a lucrative project unless you multiple ponds all producing fry. but they are a perfect way to get disease free live food for your fish.

Huh.. Did it work really???
Goldfish eggs are sticky and glue themselves to anything in the water. I use spawning mops.
This method you are referring is for egg scatters.
