Goldfish mistaking poop for food

my goldfish have been mistaking poop for food when they see any, and it happens everytime one poops another runs to eat it, i can see they will split it out but manytimes mine dont when i watch them for a while.

does any one have poop eating goldfish, would it affect them?

they are not starving and we all know how goldies deal with food.

No biggie, this is what they do. They will eat almost any thing laying on the bottom of the tank

Let's put it this way, I having common plecos(famous pooping machines) yet in nearly two years I'm yet to see poop from them. I suspect my goldfish are eating them.

a fishes digestive tract is not very efficient. mainly the reason behind them eating all day. So their poop actually contains enough nutrients to eat again.

That's why I have goldfish in my tank, they eat the turtle poop and grow like crazy.

This is also why sometimes dogs will eat cat poop, because there's still enough digestible stuff left inside.
