Not one survivor....:(
Thats what I was afraid of with the drought last summer and scarce snowfall, erratic winter. The water must have froze right to the bottom or low oxygen killed them off.
I hesitate to stock goldies this summer, supposed to be another dry one.:irked:

Im going to an auction sunday, was thinking of the possibility of stocking some CA livebearers like Ameca splendens or some such, when the water is low in early sept I could net them all out...
Bad Idea?

very cool thread just found it why not drop some in there netting them out would be the fun of it

any chance of drilling down to get the artesian well thing

subscribed to see this thread this summer

pleased to meet you

Well I didnt stock this summer out of caution and wouldnt you know it,very rainy and pond is full this fall.I did get a chance to see that ,yes the goldies were making a difference.grasses taking hold again at and below the waterline. So springtime 2010 Ill get a few dozen goldies to start again.

Just got the autobot that this was moved. An odd place to move it to but whatever.I guess if you just went by the title?
My fault I suppose I did consider asking a mod to change the title to"the trials and tribulations of my dug pond" but never got around to bugging someone about it.

I did make several unsuccesful attempts this summer to establish duckweed in the pond this summer.I can usually net out a quart of duckweed from my tanks every week or so.Dumping all that into the pond had no effect.I guess it gets too cold at night?not sure why it wouldnt grow.I expected it to take over without the goldies to eat it.

Well the heavy rains and last big snow have the pond up over the banks.maybe 4' deeper than full. These photos were taken sunday. As of today there is no more ice.The tree to the right of the first photo is a good 15 feet from the dug out area of the pond.

Im planning to pick up some goldfish tommorow or early next week to restock.

3 dozen goldfish added to my 170,000 gallon pond not overstocked right ?lol
temps about 62f.Wonder if I can get away with some endlers in a few weeks?Online says they can do down to 64.Be cool to see a pop explosion of endlers over the summer and net as many as I can out in the fall.
