I was at my lfs yesterday to buy goldfish they were out so i went to the bait shop and got minnows. I got more for my dollar and the fish seemed healthier. Is there any drawbacks to minnows I think there are advantages aside from more for your dollar the fish are in cold water where they will attract less diseases. Interested in your oppinions

Minnows are way better. Rosey reds are just a variant of Fathead minnow, they may cost the same as goldfish, but are a lot healthier.

neither. use tropical feeders like guppies.

Ghost shrimp. A bit more expensive, but they aren't stored with fish so they are unlikely to transmit disease to your fish. And, they are interesting in their own right. My feeder shrimp tank is fun to watch.

those are good as long as you aren't feeeding a true piscivore, but make sure you don't get the ones with worms inside them.

Yea, ghost shrimp are another option. I need to pic some up and build my mini fuge for feeders guppies.

I use to feed my baracuda minnow. The minnow would make the fish take more than one strike. A dumb as@ gold fish will just sit there and get eaten.:D
