really nice.

What's that red stuff he's eating? Be sure when you start getting into higher BW, you change the substrate over to aragonite, to keep the pH steady, around 8.

Thanx, guys.

that red stuff is some bloodworms. that's what i feed besides tubifex, snails and dried shrimp.
And there i go again investigating, for i never heard of aragonite.
From what level of brackish are we talking, for i'm only just starting the brackish proces.
I do add kH+ to keep that at 7 to keep my pH steady at 7.
That usually works on freshwater.

They are fine in brackish until they reach 4+ inches then you wanna convert them to full marine
i know, but the actual plan is to keep them in heavy brackish for life.
maybe i'll be ready for fully salt eventually, but thet's out of my league for now.:(

I always suggest against adding a pH buffer. As it dissipates, it does not remain steady & pH swings are more stressful on your fish than a lowered one. This is why using substrate that buffers, keeps it high & steady.

Although high-end BW is fine for them as adults, the reason we recommend SW is that then you can add live rock & a protein skimmer, eliminating the need for $uch large (50% weekly) water change$.

You for real???:nilly:
I know you are, but this is new info to me.
50% WC a week needed if they grow bigger????
That will indeed be costly, if i see how many salt i have to use.:WHOA:
So protein skimmer and live rock will actually earn it's money back.
I do get your point.
Maybe i'll have to sell one of my kids then, or trade one for a good sump and skimmer.:naughty:
