How young and how big is he?
Mine are 2 " now, and i'm still raising salt levels very slowly.

i bought him about a year ago, he was about an inch long and about the the size of a pinky, now he is about 2 inches and the size of a thumb. SG.016, started out with sg.004 to hope to kill any internal parisites that he might have had in his fresh water transit from the wild, i raised it about every month, my goal was to just raise it to sg.010 so a skimmer to work, but i went back to school so im broke lol. but as i raised the SG he seemed to be in a better mood all the time only getting dark when he rests at night. and with a higher SG. he loves his high end brachish, hes in a 29 g so im not waisting to much salt with water shanges and i keep algea on the back wall and i have good growth on my lava rock, that help with nitrates too. im going to get a skimmer and go full marine this summer becuse im going to be out of the country for 5 weeks and wont be able to do water changes. i hope the live rock and the algea and shimmer will do the work for me till i get back, i dont trust other people messin with my tanks:D

owh, 5 weeks is a long time for fish to be alone with their equipment.
I guess i'm blessed with a mom who's into fishkeeping herself, for many ,many years.
I just have her come over and take care of the fish and equipment.lol

i got no algae at all left , since i started going brackish.
Did you introduce any algae or did it just appear in time?

If the puffer is very small, you might be able to get away with that, otherwise, you're going to have to find someone to do this for you. Who's feeding it?

Skimmer won't work until ~1-020.

This may only kill off ich, not IPs.

my friend will feed him and all my other fish, im not worried obout my freshies because water changes are easy for them. im just worried she will do the water changes and mess up the SG and mess with the bio filter and have an ammonia spike. my plan was to go full marine to get some live rock ect. and a skimmer so i could do a 80% water change before i go, and let the live rock and skimmer work to keep the nitrates down as well. or i was thinking of using empty milk jugs to fill with water at the right SG so all she has to do is take water out and fill it back up with my pre filled jugs. and maybe feed him every other day? my only concern about going full marine is if hes still to young? hes about the size of a thumb

my diatoms mustve came with the coral substrate, the algea mustve been spores in the air from my other tanks? or on the fish themselves? but i dont mind it on the back wall i keep my nitrates under 20 so its not out of control, and has a good diversity. i figure in brackish enviroments its natural and im kind of a purist that way. or a hippie fish keeper:headbang2
