Green Terror Nuchal hump Growth

Hey, been awhile since I've been on mfk. I have a question regarding my green terror. As of yesterday he is now the dominate fish after defeating my blood parrot pair! I was wondering if it possible for him not to grow a hump? Also how long will it take for a healthy hump to form? Pics will be attached. I also included pictures of his cichlid tank mates.

Nuchal humps seem to have more to do with genetic make up than dominance. Being the dominate fish will definitely help. Ive seen/owned male GT that never got much of one. Ive had a small male that was about 4" with an incredible hump and he was the smallest fish in the tank. Ive have a 8" and 10" that never developed a hump. Speculation that environment and diet can have some effect. Seeing as it is a fatty deposit, maybe diet can help, but really I think its comes down to 90% genetics.

Although there are a few species of wild caught fish I've seen develop a nuchal hump(primarily in the Amphilophus genus), the ones you usually see are linebred for that specific reason. How large is your Riv? He looks to be +/- 6" if I had to guess? if so and I were a betting man, I'd say your male probably won't develop much of one if one at all since he hasn't shown any signs at this size.
He's a great looking Riv though!

I haven't gotten an exact measurement, however with a tape measure out side of the tank, I know he is just under 6in

Well that's interesting, maybe I'll give that a try. I have a smaller male in another tank. Would the presence of another male encourage this desirable growth?

I'm not sure if another male GT would cause growth.

Large nuchal humps mostly consist of water, not fat ........

I don't think it's going to happen unless the fish was line bread to have a hump like Athletic_Amph mentioned. He could possibly form a hump for breeding purposes or male dominance but most likely won't stay for long and it's still unlikely. Luck of the draw I guess.

I'm not sure how these Asian bread GT humps are? Hard vs water? If they are effected my mood, doninance, breeding? Maybe tiger15 can chime in

Asian GT are line bred for that trait.
