I thought it looked like L. alterna but i guess that is too easy. Is it even a Lampropeltis sp.? lol

Thats what I thought it was at first too. But it's more of a red color than an orange. The pattern is a bit different as well.

L. t.andesiana?

Ah... you bugger! It was recently given a taxomonic name.

It's a bloody Lampropeltis webbi.

Robert G. Webb?
What was it before... I know it was given that name in 2005. As far as i know the only major distinguishing feature of this snake is it's DNA. I remember reading about it, don't remember the picture lol.

I was going to say Lampropeltis mexicana mexicana... then he went off to saying there are not a lot of pictures of it. I am not sure what the previous classification for it either, since I can no longer access biology papers through university-certified sources.

Ding ding ding!

Yes, very few pictures floating around of this species. Oddly enough it's closest relative, DNA speaking, is a pyro!

That picture was taken by a friend of mine while herping in Mexico. That particular webbi is the only live specimen known to be in captivity. Of course, there are rumors of some webbi that "snuck" into the US.

Your turn!
