Since Tequila put the snake´s complete name I think he should be the one to post another herp I didnt reserch on it, I put the name on a impulse I didnt know they werent pit vipers and I didnt know also that the yellow morphotipe was so rare But they are pretty cool How much do they go for? Dont you also need to have antivenom on hand? Its interesting finding someone that its hooked on hots

yea from what ive seen looking around an average is about 1200-1500 for one but i have seen a few cheaper but idk about how trust worthy they are and yea im very interested in hots still deciding what i will get as my first and even more important where can i find the room. lastly no i wont need antivenom on hand whwenever i get one i will notify the closest hospital but since antivenom goes bad fairly quick and its really expensive it wont be worth it stocking it that often, and i should be able to live until the antivenom gets air delivered by helicopter from florida(if its that bad) if i ever get bitten which i dont plan on.

p.s. eyelash vipers are a member of the pit viper species and i was looking for something a little more specific from you first answer

Dude but you must be really consiencious on how dangerous is to keep something like a viper, and that thing of "Im able to survive untill they find antivenom" doesant count and was not the kind of anwser I was especting you to give me. For what Im seeing you dont have any hots experience and you are starting whit a viper and a arboreal one to make things worse. This guys have ligthning striking responses and there is simply no room for error. What if you are alergic to the venom or to the antivenom for that mater? For what I understend this vipers dont have the strongest venom but its certanly more than enough to make any of us scream like a litle girl and give you a kind of pain youll remenbar for the rest of your life. And what if you are bitten in the neck or in the face? You may say that youll never give her the chance to do that, but somehow some way this things happen. If you want to work with hots why dont you start whit something like one of the less dangerous rear fang snake species like a Boiga or something(if you ask me I think Boiga dendrophila is as pretty or even more than this viper and is a good way to weet your feet without risking your live)? Even something like a gila monster is less dangerous(but not to much) than a viper. In my humble opinion vipers are for advanced hot keepers only, let alone arboreal species of viper. Also if you cant affort the 1000 or so that costs the viper how are you going to affort the antivenom wich is like much more expencive and it may take many doses to save your life

i know how i should start when begining with hots, im looking a false water cobras atm which are the best starters. next the viper venom is fairly easy to control when you get to the hospital and the closest one to is like 3 minutes driving from my house so chances of me dieing are very slim but mne being allergic i somewhat doubt it seeing as not allergic to any other venom (got stung 3 times when i was 5 by emporer scorpian an had no effect though there venom is different, as for experience with hots i have a good amount as my dads friend has 4 hots atm and has always taught me about it, i also watch them for him and feed them when he goes on vacation and all his other non venamous snakes. and for the snake the money isnt the problem its my living situation right now, i dont have the room for one so thats the only reason i dont have a false water cobra yet cause money is no factor in it. also "Im able to survive untill they find antivenom" i never said it like that, cause getting the antivenom isnt too hard since the antivenom facility in florida has mass amounts of it from all different kinds and possibly the zoo i live fairly close too could possibly have it. and i highly doubt any regular hots breeder or keeper has antivenom on hand, there may be a few but very unlikely that more have on hand than those that dont.

p.s. also whenever i have handled a hot or will in the future i will always use snake tongs and heavy duty gloves made especially for handling snakes and lose work jeans and steel toed boots to makes the chances of me getting bitten very small.

Ok then ,I gess But I agree with you on the false water cobras I like them, they are really impressive animals. Dont gilas and beadeds make part of your wich list I really like both
